3rd brake light/license plate light upgrade

I've been running the ORO 3rd brake light kit since last may, and now that its god damn cold outside, I'm getting issues with the lights. One of the white led is broken, the two others are very weak. and sometimes nothing works but a very low light coming out of one of the red led :thinking:

So I've been thinking about doing an upgrade, and the best solution I came up with, is to build a small box to weld on my tire carrier. It will also be used to put on some auxilary back-up lights later in the project.

The main idea is to put two 3/4" red led light for the brake, and one white 3/4" led light for the license plate. This way its gonna be a lot more visible, and the brake lights will be way better and way more visible than the ORO kit.

So this is where I'm at right now.

Great idea! Are you gonna install the white light on the bottom of that or somewhere else? Looking forward to seeing it all finished.

Yeah i will add a plate under for the license plate. Its gonna be like inside the box.

I was working today so during lunch i have notched the half circles on each sides to fit on my genright carrier and bent / drilled the plate that goes under.

obviously I will shorten it to fit inside, but will have to weld the box on the carrier first to see how I can fit the plate inside.
