[Q] YJ to CJ7 Tailgate Conversion Latch

Has anyone ever used a latch, like this, to secure a CJ7 type tailgate? It looks sturdy enough. Plus, it's lockable, thoughts?

So are you converting the tailgate from a swing open to a drop down? If yes then the OEM latch should do you, I have seen this done on many YJ's and it is a cool mod.

But if your OEM latch is not working/missing then yes it will do the trick, just pad the padlock or you will hear it clunking all day!

Yeah, stock latch is nonexistent. Didn't think of padding the lock... Thank you for the pointer.
