2013 & 2014 Transfer Case

I have a 2013 JKUR and haven't had any problems. When it was new, shifting into 4H took more effort than I was used to, but it seems to have loosened up now and shifts into 4H pretty easily. As far as being on the trails, etc. I haven't had any issues with it.

I've had mine resealed 3 times. The first two times was because the tech at the dealer was clueless on how to do the repair.

Doesn't surprise me.

Mine smells like tires are being burned in the cockpit - you think it's on fire. Instead of fire you get a nasty sound from the t-case.

This is a 2014; 6 or 8 weeks old. Just hit 5k miles

Is there any specifics to it occurring? IE, in 4hi, 4lo, low speed, hi speed

Happened on Saturday when I was out.

Heard a loud thunk/clang/clash. I can replicate this 100% of the time.

Feels like the t-case is grabbing the shifter from you too.

Was this while shifting from 2H into 4H or 4H in to 4L? Almost sounds like you were shifting from 2H/4H into 4L at speed while in gear. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I accidentally did this at barely 5mph and it made a horrible sound.

No. This is not likely a case of operator error unless operating the vehicle is the error.

It was in 4L when it occurred.

I'll see about getting the video up.

Watch these. Turn the volume up and watch how the shifter seems to be grabbed.

Would it be possible for you to describe what you are doing to cause this horrible noise? I think it would help us try and identify the problem.

I thought it was happening while shifting in and out of 2wd and 4wd. Seems its happening when just shifting from R into P. My advice would be to take it to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty.

It happens when doing any shifting in 4WD now. The worst is in Low.

I can't afford to have my vehicle in service for another 45 days....I just got this one.

Here's that whole mess:

Does anyone have this issue with the 2 dr?
