Chris, do the female threads on the wheel still have the lovely thick powder coating? If so, you may need to chase the threads with a tap to clean out the powder coating. If the threads are clean and bare, a touch of oil might help. And lastly, are you already doing the two recommendations I have given? If so, I am out of ideas and can no longer be of assistance.

Maybe ChrisB will chime in, not sure if he can reach out to the guys on the shop floor at ORE. Maybe Eddie has a fix too

Are these new wheels and the inserts weren't installed in the wheel or you replacing an insert that was damaged?

I thought the inserts were installed in new wheels when you got them (I don't have them, but I heard they do).

Either way, you may have to run a tap through the holes to clean the threads up.

When I put my rings on the bolts screwed in with no problems. There were no inserts to install. My biggest problem was pushing the rings down equally on all sides to get the bolts started as the bolts were barely long enough. They can't be any longer or they will eventually bottom out and hit the wheel before becoming tight enough.

i can't remember but, did you make sure to use a lot of soapy water? that helps out a lot. also, i know that mel's guys like to pound the bead onto the lip of the wheel prior to installing the rings.

The threads are clean on both the wheel and insert it seems like they are designed to be put in with a special tool that press them in because you have to push them in as you screw them down. Nevertheless, with a screwdriver it feels like you are going to damage something and two screwdrivers broke already trying to screw them in. I called Jake and I am waiting on what he wants to do with them.

They are new abd only 1 wheel came with the inserts not installed.

If you go to spyderlocks website, they sell an insert tool for just this problem. They are like $16 or $19 if I remember correctly...

Throw the inserts in the freezer for an hour or so before you try installing them. (shrink them)

Haha, the freezer thing is a bit of alchemy, but if the placebo works, run with it! Steel won't contract noticeably between room temp and 30F. Thanks for posting the link though! It's a headache to post links on a mobile...

I think my head was in the freezer too long.

What I meant to say was, put some beer in the frig an hour before you try to install them.
It will be cold and ready to drink while you go at the insert install.

When I got my slabs one wheel had no inserts. One wheel had an insert that didnt seat all of the way and was all chewed up. Mel swapped the wheels out no questions asked.
