Wire question

Idk if this is the right place to ask this or not but i feel like it is. I've seen some jeeps with wires that go from the top of the windshield (mostly when they have a lightbar) to the front of the hood where the hood latches are. I don't think i've seen this actually in person or not but i've seen this in videos on youtube and in some pictures. Does this wire serve a purpose, if so i'm guessing it acts as a grounding point, or are they just for looks?

This is what i'm talking about:

LOL!! They are called "limb risers" and are popular with overlander types. They are supposed to help push branches out of the way but really, they are mostly there to give you the complete overlanding look. :D

They are limb lifters or limb risers. Their purpose is to lift branches and limbs up and over your hood.

They are handy on overgrown trails but I personally can't stand the looks.
