Magnets for winch cover

I've got an idea I'd like to bounce off you guys. I recently installed an LOD front bumper with a Warn Power plant. Living in the northeast I feel it's important to have a cover on the winch for the winter months. The problem is the tight fitament on the passenger side of the bumper. I thought about cutting the bumper but was wondering if modifying the cover is a better option.
Could I use rare earth magnets to hold the cover down on the passenger side?
Here's a view looking down on the passenger side. The driver side has enough room to tuck the cover under the winch.

You know, I bet it would work well and unless I'm missing something, shouldn't be an issue.
