Picked up this 1988 Comanche today. It's had a 1996 H.O. Auto conversion done on it. Cruise and AC. Can't wait to start the build. What should I do? 1406493681911.jpg 1406493691994.jpg

I found a set of JK axles for cheap and was thinking about swapping them into the Comanche. I know they are wider. Not sure how much. Need to measure front suspension mounting points as well. Any thoughts if this is a bad idea or should I go with something different. It currently as the d35 rear and I don't want to waste money on it.

Oh that is a beauty. We dont really get those here in england. Ive seen 1 on ebay but it was out of my reach at £4.500. I picked up my 91 xj 4.0 HO lhd 2 door xj for £950. That was a steal.

You should give it to me josh!! I'll build it and you can borrow It from time to time! 😁

But really, Nice score! I like those!

I wouldn't swap in a front d30.
If you're going through the trouble of a swap, you should at least do a 60rear 44 front. You can find them for a reasonable price, and then you wouldn't have to worry about your front end.

My ride- 2001 power wheel, 11" plastic tires, upgraded battery, boat sides, custom bumpers, tow hooks, new paint.

Got the new wheels put on today. Lift is going on week after next when we get back from Moab. Ended up getting a good deal on a Explorer 8.8. Once the fender flares go on and I see what tires I can clear I'll be getting the axles reheated and lockers put in.

We've done a lot of work on the Comanche since I last posted. Lift is on but wasn't happy with the lift height in the rear so I ordered new springs, Notch Customs fenders, JRC DIY bumpers, 33" Goodyear duratracs, Ford 8.8 w/traclok. It's in the shop right now getting 4.10 gears, a front truetrac, chromoloy shafts, C gusset and sleeved. Can't wait to get it back. 1415243074119.jpg 1415243117726.jpg 1415243165994.jpg 1415243214079.jpg 1415243288963.jpg 1415243321128.jpg 1415243361772.jpg 1415243430667.jpg 1415243467994.jpg

Just saw this thread... Love the truck. I had a 92 Eliminator, I kick myself every day for selling it. I've been trolling craigslist for a while looking for a project. Please keep posting your progress.

Didn't stay with the 33's for very long. Got 35's put on last week. Headed to the coast to do some camping and hit the dunes. Love having the CVT.

Congrats on a very nice Comanche. You certainly didn't waste any time with some great mods. The 8.8 rear is THE way to go. Absolutely love the bumpers, flairs, lift and 35's make it extremely capable.:thumb::thumb:
