Help me spend my money!

It's winter and I'm laid off, so plenty of time to think about Jeeps! After picking up my JKU in October, I've been leaning toward the EVO 4" Enforcer lift and running 37s, but I'm starting to think more about going straight to 40s. Looking for advantages/disadvantages to each, as well as options for lifts and drivetrain upgrades.

Original plan was the 4" Enforcer, PR44 with an ARB, and regear and lock the factory rear until I also save up for a Trail 60.

Your original plan sound's really nice and will probably get you into places you never thought possible. Maybe with that plan think about a roll cage for safety's sake and then an atlas transfer case drive line's hydro steering beadlock's and fire extinguisher then all your bases will be covered for a pretty dam capable off road vehicle.

Jumping up to forty's is with out a doubt huge commitment if you plan to do so properly.

So you have a JKU, what year? Your profile states a 2001 TJ.

SO with what you are talking about there is a lot involved with going to 40's and it is not cheap. What type of life are going to go with? Since you are looking at 40's you will want to go 60's front and rear with rear full float. You will also need to run at a minus 5.38 gears, PSC Hydraulic Assist Steering. Also you will need new rims with a 6x5.5 and would also recommend going with 20 inch wheels. Check out Moby before the engine swap.

If you want a parts list let me know. I have built a list with prices and part numbers. It came to about $40K

It's a 2014, automatic transmission.

I've looked at Moby's specs quite a bit. Would prefer to stick with 17s if possible, and a bit narrower than the 15.50 tires. State law here requires fenders to cover the tires. Can get by with an inch or two, but nothing like what Moby has!

40's are wide tires. Might I suggest going with 37's and you can save yourself about a lot of money as well.

Forgot to say Winch that's a life line when you go by yourself.

As stated above couple of options you can play with and change to your liking but that list is right on the money expect you'll be needing a roll cage, body armor for sure also all the proper safety gear, strap, a snatch block, shackle's, hi lift jack, First aid kit, Beer cooler, extra blanket in case you have to go all bear grills out there while were on that note a fire stick is not a bad idea to have handy to.

So add about another 5 to 10k depending on options as what is stated above.

Already got all the recovery gear, minus a winch for it. Was looking at the Nitto Trail Grapplers in 37x13.50R17.

Looking like I'll probably be going to 37s though. Much cheaper, and I don't really NEED bigger...

Haha! I was thinking about the Enforcer and the bolt on coilovers for the front. Been looking at Pro Comp steelies for wheels too. If I only go 37s, I found a shop here that will sell 37x12.50 Mastercraft MXTs for 271 mounted and balanced. Trying to do it well, but save a little money where I can too!

Well if that's your starting point you are crazy! LOL I have the vast majority of that stuff and I would call it more of the end all then the starting point.

I only want to spend the money once. SWMBO has thus thing about buying different parts for the same mod, hence EVO DTD and long arm and PR 60's front and rear. It may take a couple of years to save but it will be worth it I the end.

I was teasing. But I totally agree. Have learned hard way about spending money twice. Won't make that mistake again.

How would a PR44 hold up to 40s with only moderate wheeling?

Define moderate wheeling. To the mall and around town, I'm sure you'd be fine with a pr44 and 40s. Not sure it's gonna last long on the trail with 5.38s.
