Below is part of the build sheet for my Jeep. Newbie but loving this site.

Q1. I was under the impression the JKRU came with 4.1 Axle ratio, but mine appears to be 3.73
Q2. What is 4:1 Rock-Trac HD Part Time 4WD Sys? The "Part Time" confused me.

DGJ 5-Speed Auto W5A580 Transmission
DHWS 4:1 Rock-Trac HD Part Time 4WD Sys
DJSS Next Gen. Dana 44 HD Front Axle
DMES 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio
DRZS Next Gen. Dana 44 HD Rear Axle
DSES Tru-Lok Front & Rear Axles
ERB 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine

Starting in 2012 4.10 gears had to be specifically ordered on Rubis.

The 4:1 is your transfer case

Like Mattfl said, the 4.10 come with the max tow upgrade package. Well...that was the name of it if jeep didn't change it.

Here's a vid on rock trac system. Should help you understand. It was helpful for me when I first started learning.

Can gears be changed or do you have to replace the entire axle?

Yes, you can change just the gear ratio, and you'll want to do so if you go to larger tires, such as a 37. You could probably live with 3.73 with 35s for a while.

I was just thinking you are up rather early. I have been up for a couple of hours, one cup of coffee, quiet time with the Lord and now getting my WAL on.

Insomnia and early work meetings don't mix. Been up for a while as well. U also have TX time working in your favor.

I'm running 315's now but I'm sure I'll eventually want to go to 37's.

Your 315's will have a true measurement of about 35" or just shy of it. A 37x12.50R17 will have a true measurement of about 35", typically on the money if not just a tad taller. In other words, you're pretty much there already.
