South Coyote Canyon is a beautiful trail located in Anza Borrego Desert State Park, CA and is one of the best trail for someone new to Jeeps and off-roading to learn on. It's relatively close to Los Angeles and San Diego and offers terrain that is technical enough make it a good challenge for a stock JK but nothing too difficult.

This short video highlights the first annual Project-JK.com newbie run that we did back in October 2007. In all, we had a total of 14 Jeep JK Wrangler along for the ride including JK Rubicons, JK X and JK Sahara's in both 2-door and 4-door Unlimited models and in various degress of lift heights and tire sizes including bone stock. As is the case with most of our runs, this was an optional overnight trip and we set up camp towards then end of the trail at Sheep Camp. And, if you've ever been camping with us, you know that's where all the real fun happens! Unfortunately, on the way out, one of our members, Trail Bud, suffered an unusual break to his front axle housing but thanks to a good ratchet strap and toad's AAA premium membership, all was good in the end.
