Mopar Performance Axles D-60's

Caught the Bug
I know some has seen this new offering by Mopar for jeeps and I thought there was a thread on it. Anyhoo, I stopped off at my local jeep stealership and spied a brochure while I was picking up a fog light bulb...$28:eek: For giggles I asked the price on what a rear 60 would be. They come complete the way it looks 8 lug, brakes, etc for about $4300-4500. I asked what labor was and warranty. He said labor would be $375 and warranty I think he said either one or two year...can't remember. I am curious I did not think the labor was that bad at all. How many of you would have that done for that. I'm thinking I would.

If it really comes with one, I would get that warranty in writing and I would also make sure it covers whatever gear ratio you decide to go with AS WELL AS the e-locker.

labour seems low?

I would have thought they would charge more than, what, 5 hours (for $375) labour...an axle swap...

Must be a dealer thing. Southern Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep here in VA told me that there was no warranty.

If you do a little searching you can find them for about $3900 but they will be the spicer dana unit, same thing and $375 isn't bad for install I guess, I would just do it myself, pretty easy, but I bet thats not covering the new 1350 driveshaft that you will need, another $600 or so for that and dont forget the new wheels you will need for the eight lug and I have heard they don't work with 17" wheels due to the big brakes.

Jeez man, one can of worms at a time. :cheesy:

But in all seriousness, good points.

I'd wager thats a warranty on the labor and not on the parts. Performance parts typically come with no warranty. Might want to ask about that.

I just called spicer and asked about the warranty and there is a one year warranty on workmanship and labor but still on a case by case basis, so you can take that for what its worth, the only good thing is that it is a factory spicer dana, the same people that have made millions of OEM axles so the odds are good that they will be as good or better longevity as any dana factory axle but its still kind of risky if your concerned about taking it off road and having it covered under warranty.

What, he could have also mentioned that the new wheels wouldn't work any existing tires you might have.:cheesy:

The factory axle comes with a 3 yr and 36K mile warranty. If it were as good or better, wouldn't the warranty also be the same or better.

Of course, one might also throw all this out the window should the Jeep have other aftermarket parts???

So I can't just squeeze my five lug on to an eight?

The gears are 4.88 and 5.38's. I priced the 5's

Everywhere I have checked the price was the same for either ratio, at least the ones with the dana spicer name on them anyway.

All good options but you still can't beat the DynaTrac warranty, I was seriously considering the Dana 60's but I really wanted to stay with arb's and with the warranty they have I decided to just upgrade the front for now and went with a ProRock 44 Unlimited and couldn't be happier, but I wouldn't blame anyone for getting the Dana's, its a pretty reasonable way to step way up in axles.
