Jern26 '15 JK build

A little late, but March of 2015 I decided I wanted a daily wrangler. Got out of trade school, and the best job of my life (so far) in October of '14. I've had some toy cj's before - a 46 cj2A, a 55 cj5, but new technology was too tempting. After realizing I could buy a new one for not much more money than a used JK, I ordered my Jeep. Finally got it in May, as base model as possible - hand crank windows, no AC, Donut wheels, only option I went for was 3.73's.

0 miles - started learning and appreciating the lifestyle that came with a jeep, no doors, wind everywhere, new feeling of freedom. The satisfaction with a stock sport was short lived though.

500 miles - ordered/installed a Quadratec 2.5" lift with new coils and nitro shocks. Judging by part number on the shocks, it seemed like a skyjacker kit just rebranded. I also ordered some 33x12.5 bfg km2, on 15" steel rims 3" backspacing IIRC. I did have to grind my calipers a little to clear the 15's, but overall was pretty satisfied with the whole setup. Tires stuck out very far though.

3500 miles - The lift lost its excitement, had to order more parts. Installed a smittybilt xrc m.o.d. stubby front bumper, and bull bar. Also bought some smittybilt rocker bars/sliders. Oh and I also got some rubicon express quick disconnects for the front sway.

6000 miles - decided I wanted a narrower stance (in PA we unfortunately have fender flare laws, no tire tread allowed past the flares). I also didn't like the idea of unsiped m/t's, on my brand new jeep in PA's ice filled winters, played that game before haha. so new wheels and tires again! Hindsight is always 20/20. I bought 16" alloy rims, and some 285/75r16 goodyear Duratracs.

7000 miles - Finally got a winch. Smittybilt xrc 9500 with synthetic line. Also bought some 7" round led lights, 2 floods on the front bumper and 2 spots on the windshield hinges. They were cheap amazon lights, but for $60 a pair I couldn't be more satisfied. Extremely bright. Not the farthest shining, but my trail rides are low and slow so I prefer spread over distance anyways. Lastly I put some teraflex 1" coil spacers up front to compensate for the sag from the winch/bumper.

P.S. - Yes, I am a poser and bought KC light covers for my cheap lights. In my defense, lights that cheap don't come with covers, and KC was all they had in stock at the local parts store haha

Oh, and at some point in between all of that, I threw on a dynomax high tuck cat back exhaust, and a k&n drop in filter. And some grill inserts, in addition to black "angry eye" headlight bezels.

Thankyou! It's not the best parts, or ideal wheeler by any means, but I'm happy with how it's turning out so far!

Dunno how I missed your thread. Nice Jeep! Tank is one of my favorite colors.
Growing up our family had a camp in Medix Run. I love that area. try to get back there at least a couple times a year.

Thankyou, yours looks pretty good too!! And small world! When I was younger (14-18ish) me, my dad, and our neighbors used to go to a camp around medix run/driftwood for weekends just to trail ride jeeps! driving a convoy of cj's on four wheeler trails all day before I had my license was the coolest thing ever. This was my loaner chariot back then. I learned if you could drive an un-synchronized H pattern with 60 horsepower, then you could drive anything haha. Really is crazy how these machines have changed!

Edit: By pretty good, I mean your jeep makes me extremely jealous hahah.

Thats awesome! My buddy and I used to try to kill ourselves in his old CJ5 & '71 Commando on his farm back in the day.
Maybe next time I'm going up I'll give you a heads up - I'll buy wings at the Medix Hotel

So an update as of today (payday 😃😃👍)

Just ordered a red 48" hilift and tailgate hinge mount kit.

Also ordered a black EVO rear bumper fascia (which looks so kickass by the way,) the evo rear shackle kit, and some shiny D-rings to hang out back there! 😆 CAN'T WAIT till they show up, the rear end of this jeep has looked too plain and factory for far too long 😝

According to FedEx - err.. I mean Santa, he's showing up a day early this year!! 💇👐
