Harken Hoist - garage ceiling height?

Hi guys, i love the idea of the Harken hoist.

Is there a limit on the garage ceiling height that you see? The directions say 10" - but is this because they are intending for you to drive under it?

I intend to back into my garage, take off the top, and then normally drive forwards into the garage. My garage height is 105" / 8' 9".
In other words, i hope to store the top in front of the jeep as shown here:

I just rigged this up with a 2x6, 6 130lb eyelet bolts, about a 1 foot of outdoor carpet and 4 450lb ratchet straps from homedepot. I couldn't be happier. Cost me about $25

YouTube is a good bet to get ideas from low budget to high dollar. I used the Racor lift. Works like a champ. My garage ceiling has a 9ft ceiling. Good luck!

Bought an electric hoist from good ol' HF and mounted it in the attic, ran cable through drywall and use some lifting straps. Works great but with a single lifting point it wants to rotate.. so just a couple bungee cords keep it from spinning. Also the freedom panels have to sit on top of it to balance it.. total cost was about $150.

My ceiling height is just under 10ft and there is plenty of room to walk under it still. I think 8'9" should be fine.
