My 01 TJ wants to idle high. Normally (the past couple months) when I start the jeep it runs about 1,000 rpm for 10 minutes or so. Then it falls down to 500 where it should be. This is true whether I drive the Jeep down the road or just let it sit and run at idol.
Today it when I started the jeep it wants to idle around 1200. After 10/15 minutes it dropped to 1000. After another 20 minutes it's still running at 1000 rpm. The needle is also bouncing around.
Normally the engine is whisper quiet. It's definitely running loud today.
Any thoughts on what could make it idol so high?
I'm going to clean the throttle body and IAC. Hopefully that will help. Unfortunately it will be about a week or two before I can get to it.
What else can make it run high?
