Oil pressure switch malfunction

Ok my CEL came on today and I threw my flashpaq on it and it gave me a P0520 code (oil pressure switch) is this a warranty fix or recall issue? Or is it easy to fix myself? I found the part online for around $35 so the part shouldn't be an issue. Also it's a 2013 jku automatic with around 45k on the odo.

I had this happen on mine and unfortunately it was a 2 part fix. My 2012 was under 36k when it happened. They replaced the sensor first. Within days it came back and they had to replace the oil pump next. Mine luckily was covered under warranty.

I think my 2013 went out around 3000 miles. Basically, a few months after I bought it brand new. I think it was a lesser know problem then, but it's been more widely reported since. I had it replaced under warranty. There's a TSB for it. Good luck.

Its a common issue, VERY common, had mine replaced at 12000. Try to see if the dealer can get chrysler to warranty it, since it's such a common issue.

Not to bring up a over-discussed problem. I've got this code as well and I'm still under warranty. My question is related to everything I break on my jeep. After I break something (or claim I do). I upgrade. Is there an upgrade/better sensor switch and/or oil pump that is more robust or stronger (or higher quality)? I like to overbuild as much as I can afford. Is there an overzealous fix for this besides the warranty replacement that anyone is aware of?

Good question! I am now curious of this too, but I guess if Jeep wanted a stronger pump/switch they would have put it in themselves right?

I figure everything jeep is upgradeable. Either by Chysler or by one of the 15 thousand off road companies out there. A general google search did not bring up anything.

Caught the Bug
My 13 oil sensor was replaced at just a few thousand miles. The oil pump last year with maybe 25,000 - only have 29k now.

I used the oil pump repair to ask dealer to install my Evo oil pan skid that i already had. They did it no charge. Jeep went into limp mode, but I drove it to the dealer.

so I got a crazy idea, well, not that crazy but if anyone can identify problems with this, please speak up.
the replacement (newer part number) for the 3.6 oil pressure sensor is part: 5149062AA. it runs around 30.00-45.00. I came across a generic oil pressure relocation kit that should work: http://www.miatacage.com/oil-pressure-sensor-relocation-kit to move it to an easy-to-access location. I am also considering using that relocation kit to add a manual gauge too. so far I'm just thinking out loud. Anyone point out something I missed or need to consider further? Or anything I should take to the next level?

update

I think my crazy idea paid off. After a fixing my injector leak, the remote oil pressure sensor install works great and from now on, an easy change.
