Old School VIDEO : How a Carburetor Works

For most of you out there, I know this is ancient and archaic technology that you no longer have a need for and for some, it may even be something you've never had any experience with or know anything about. But, for those of you who are interested, here are a couple of great videos, old school videos that do a great job of explaining how a carburetor works. This first one is an old school black and white film that Chevrolet made back in the 1940's.


And, as hard as it is to imagine we were still using carburetors back in the mid 1980's, here's a great video made by Shell and it highlights how far carburetor technology had come before it was phased out in favor of fuel injection.

Memories. I haven't had a carburetor on a vehicle in many years. Now that I have an old CJ5 coming, I need to remember this old stuff. Still, good chance I'll end up putting a TBI on it, but nothing wrong with a classic old Holley double pumper on a 360.
