JSpecs Join Forces!

Blatantly inspired by the Enforcers Unite thread, I thought I'd start one for everyone running a JKS JSpec lift (JSpec, JKontrol, JKonnect, etc). Throw up pics, stats, feedback on performance, installation questions, etc. I'll be installing mine in the next week or two and can contribute more then!

I have the 3.5" Jspec. I went with all Currie arms. Just installed it a few weeks back. Haven't had time to do a write up. And I haven't flexed it out yet. I'll have to post up some pics.

What made you go with the Currie vs the JKS? What was the price difference?

My OCD kicked in[emoji3]. I figured since I had to replace front lowers and rear uppers because of the lift, I wanted all 8 arms the same brand. I happened to catch the Currie arms on a great sale, so the cost difference between the full blown Jconnect kit with arms vs the basic JSPEC kit with the Currie arms was just a few hundred dollars. I like the adjustability, but all 8 are not necessary.

Just finished my install. Starts here

and goes for a few pages. Instructions were really good for the most part. A few things to figure out on my own.

Total install was 25 hours but that included removing a budget boost (big pain) and the only power tool used was a drill for boring out a few holes. All wrenching done by hand.

I'll post up pics of it in the days to come.

A super cool chick I wheel often with has a 3" JKS lift with fox 2.0 shocks. Thing is pretty damn impressive for a very basic lift. JKS makes some really nice products.

No, I didn't. Didn't know that was a thing. Actually gives more droop or just safeguards against the spring coming unseated at current droop? I'll ask Wes if I need those when they do my rear LCAs.

Caught the Bug
Don't bother, they aren't necessary with the correct length shock. The only reason I installed them is they weren't expensive and when I had my other Jeep the Teraflex ones installed in just a couple minutes/side. There was a little wrench like tool that was included that held the nut in place. This kit came with a different size lock nut and no tool which made it really difficult. I thought it would be easy inexpensive extra insurance. Lesson learned.

They just help prevent the spring from unseating at rear droop if you have long enough shocks

Subscribed! I am still deciding what lift I want. It is still about a year out, but I want to make sure that I get the right lift for me.

Awesome thread! I'm thinking of getting the jspec 2.5 for my hard rock ... plus front j-link fixed lower control arms, exhaust spacers

Is there anything else I would need to get? Anything for the rear that I need besides swaybar links ?

Rather than exhaust spacers, I'd recommend doing a new driveshaft. It's a more long-term solution that will be stronger. Exhaust spacers are a band aid IMO. Also, Trail Jeeps installs a lot of JSpecs so it'd be worth calling them before ordering to make sure you're all set. And they're a forum vendor so win win.
