Weld on Sliders - Paint prior or after install?

I'm looking to get some weld sliders for my 2 door. Most come raw steel. Is it better to paint them prior to install and touch up around the welding or have them mounted then painted? What are you guys using for paint or are you going powder coat?

Paint everything but the feet that get welded to the frame. You can spray bomb them and the whole frame area once they're installed. Otherwise you won't be able to paint behind the sliders once they're put on.

Also, if you are planning on getting your rails scratched up I wouldn't suggest powder coating. It costs way more and only makes it harder to touch up. I used cheap semi-gloss spray paint. Mike did get scratched to hell and I'm gonna just tape off the Jeep & spray bomb them once it warms back up.
