Towing with JK--Brake Controller and 7 Pin Harness

For those of you that tow, with your Jeep, what trailer brake controller do you use, and what 7 pin wiring harness did you install?

Towing with JK--Brake Controller and 7 Pin Harness

I never used a brake controller (should have) with my pop up trailer, but I got my 7 pin harness from the dealer. As I recall, it was an easy install.
Nice R Pod, been looking at those as well.

It isn't mine, yet. My wife's grandfather has one, and we may buy it. Dry weight is a little over 2600 pounds.

I may go the dealer route. It should be plug & play, essentially.

    Nice.

It's been a while, but yeah, I think it just plugged into one side of the tail lights.

OEM 7-pin harness and Tekonsha P3. So far has worked flawlessly. I've had a few different brake controllers and the P3 seemed easier to set up.

I have a Tekonsha and it's easy to use. My only recommendation is to try your best not to mount the 7 pin where the 4 pin normally resides. Mine didn't survive the first wheelin trip.

This. The P3 is awesome and fits on the lower right of the steering wheel.

About us
“wayoflife” is a moniker that I’ve been using for 20 years now and I chose it because I think it does a great job of explaining, in simple terms, the passion I have for Jeeps and the Jeep way of life. This is a lifestyle that transcends age, gender and race as the only thing you need to be a part of it is a love for the outdoors, a desire to explore, a yearning to take on a challenge and a will to conquer it. Over the years, Cindy and I have attempted to capture the essence of this lifestyle through photographs and videos and share it with others around the world. And, this is how WAYALIFE was born.
