Bigger tires and back spacking?

Plan on putting bigger tires on my 2016 wrangler unlimited sport and I've heard the term back spacing and I'm not too familiar with it.

What is it? How would it effect putting larger tires on my jeep if at all?

By adjusting your backspace determines on where your wheel sets from your axle a shallow back space will push your tiers away from the body more I run a 4.75" backspace and factory is 6.25"

Theoretically any time you decrease backspacing, wear on parts will increase. However I think for most people it won't be measurable enough to worry about.

33's that are 10" wide (stock Rubicon width) will be fine on OEM rims. If you go to 12.5" wide on 33's or 35's, you're going to need spacers or different rims. On 35's you will likely need a lift or a sawsall!
