My jeep starts but it won't stay running. When you turn the key, the engine comes to life but then does right away. It will continue to run if you push the gas down. Am I correct in assuming this is a problem somewhere in the fuel system?

Check the pressure. Only way to know for sure

Fuel pressure, also could be the throttle position sensor (TPS). The TPS is easy cheap fix.

Every time this has happened to me, it has been a fuel filter. Cheapest, easies thing to check first.

These are known to have bad crank position sensors

Had a 94xj start then die. I ran a hot wire to my fuel pump to make sure it wasnt dead. Pump was good, changed cps sensor fired up n good to go.
