Off Season Jeep Projects/Maintenance

WJCO

Meme King
For a lot of us, the jeep season is ending (unlike you lucky jeepers in socal or Florida). While we use our Jeeps year-round, the trails here will start closing soon limiting our off-road use. So what are your off season projects that you'll be working on?

As of now, for us, the JK will stay as is, we may do some little mods and maintenance. The WJ will have all of the grease zerks serviced, the spark plugs changed, and I really want to redo the spare tire carrier to bring it up higher. I'll probably unspool both winches and clean out the ropes and drums. And I'll likely get an ARB awning for the WJ.

Nice Doug! For me:
Get a grease gun
Refill all grease fittings
Maybe install a Sport cage
Torque all bolts and remark them
Unspool the winch and wash the rope
Save money for a house. Probably no huge mods for a while we do that with the possible exception of a Sport cage or headlights.

And then there's the Scrambler:
Install air pump
Install pcv valve
Pass emissions
Get it registered

Texas doesn't have an on or off season, unfortunately. We ain't got shit!

Misses and I are on "our" part of the Texas Exodus (Durango Friday and Saturday, and Estes Park and Cheyenne this week). Once I get back it will be time to do PM on joints and oil, and some minor repairs. Deep clean the inside from the GSD living on the bench for 17 days. Other than that there will be nothing to prep for. I envy y'all that live here, regardless.

If you happen to be around Estes by chance on Saturday, we're doing a run up near there. About ten minutes away.

I’m in the process of

Getting new Johnny joints for my front lower arms
Finding a place that can recharge the King’s with nitrogen for when I rebuild them shortly
Grease all joints again
Get the rest of the parts for hydro and then install

Plans? Continue to save every penny I can for the big parts I want. [emoji854]

Hopefully save for a pr60 since it will be too cold to work on anything. Touch up the undercarriage with paint cause it’s salt season. Lol

Do my normal maintenance every 3-5k. Change oil and grease everything.

Great thread idea.

My project list is pretty small:

Build a new front axle
Install rear axle I've had for a year sitting in the garage :rolleyes2:
Switch steel cable to synthetic (although I like steel better)
Give the Jeep a DEEP clean. Like deep deep clean.
Wheel it :thumb:

Change serpentine belt tensioner.

Fix rear diff leak.

Plumb heat exchanger for camp shower.

I'll be doing the usual maintenance of fluids, greasing joints, rust prevention, nut torquing  and other small things. I hope to have the tire carrier installed soon as well for winter projects. :thumb:

That dude from Mississippi
New unit bearings, hunt my oil leak, making sure it’s not a line going into the transmission cooler. Get under it and check the torque on the bolts.
