Thinking about a 2017 JKR recon

I've got a 2012 JKS with about 82k miles on it. It's pretty much stock except for wheels, tires, and a few mall rated dealer adds. I'm happy with it and it's worked well for my needs in the field(accessing remote communication huts in the midwest). I'd really like to get into some more technical and difficult off roading though.

I just came accross a new 2017 JKR Recon with 4.10s and everything else that that addition comes with. Its got just about everything installed that I'd like to add to my sport. The price is ok, haven't worked out final numbers yet but we're getting close enough that the deal should be fine. It's granite crystal, just a beautiful Jeep.

Am I silly for thinking about pulling the trigger on it and not waiting for the jl to be released?? I can't tell if I'm being impulsive or I just think it's a great fit for me.

Just curious what other more experienced jeeper's thoughts were?

I say do it. My wife just got a 4 door recon this week. We absolutely love it. All the creature comforts that my 2011 sport doesn't have although I realize most trims and years above and after mine are better equipped. The apparent upgraded D44s are a nice touch. They giving you a fair price for yours?

16k for mine, it's probably not to bad for a trade. I've excellent care of it.

I'd say go for it as well. The JL doesn't seem that different to wait IMO. If you found a jeep you like, go for it.

I will say we were between waiting for the JL or getting a new Rubicon. We weren't shopping for a Recon until Jeep announced EP for Harvey victims with flooded vehicles. When we saw the price difference between a Rubicon and Recon we had decided on the Recon. I understand this is a different situation for you but money saved is money saved however the added features and whatnot on the Recon persuaded us.

I say go for it as well. Recons are great Jeeps with that upgraded front Dana 44, I’ve seen one at the dealer and it’s pretty impressive. If the price is right you should pick one up.

First year models always have kinks to work out as well. I always wait until it's been out for a couple of years before I buy one.

Thanks Guys I really appreciate all the feedback! I'll head back there Monday and see if I can get the deal I want, or at least one I'm happy with. Those pictures were like softcore porn, nice job with the peer pressure lol

I say go for it too!! The Recon came out a few months after I purchased my HR. I would’ve purchased one if they were available. Good luck!

I don't know who the ugly SOB that's standing next it is but this is my brand new JKR Recon. I absolutely love, especially the power locks lol. I'll miss my gecko jks but I'm really happy with the purchase.
