I rarely travel with a plan or a schedule. This day found me near Big Water, Utah.

This greets you soon after you start the trail.

Half hour into it.

Awesome.

Climbing.

Over to the other side. The road is getting more fun.

Getting dark so I figure I should pick a place to camp.

I dig the desolation! The tracks here are many days old.

The wind picked and was really howling. 3:00 am and I'm wide awake, so I figure I'd make some tracks.
There's nothing like good lighting, to the front and also to the sides.
Although night driving is fun, you do miss out on some scenary.

Yay sign! I'm not as lost as I think I am, I think.

Selfie - I couldn't resist. Those aren't nerd glasses, they're High Performance glasses!
Only 42 miles to go!

I pitched camp before daylight, so I got to wake up twice :brows:
IMG_0059-X2.jpg

Yay hills! Yay view!

I'm bummin' that this leg is almost over.

Some kind of fancy rock.

Grand Staircase Part 2

View from fancy rock. There's a Jeep there somewhere!

Roof of the fancy rock. It's hard to tell, but those rock segments look like they're just glued in place. I'm glad it's not winter, as I'd hate to have one crashing down on me.

Well... that's it. I'm just about to Escalante. I think it was 73 miles or so and probably took 10 or so hours.
IMG_0077-XL.jpg

Unusual bees. They actually are.

From there it was off to a gas station and onwards some other place. Hope you enjoyed the pics. Sorry I'm not much for words.

The Grand Staircase-Escalante is one of my wife and I favorite places to go. So much out there and so little people. Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

That's a beautiful area. Was lucky enough to get out that way with the family during a Bryce/Zion trip many years back.

Thanks for sharing the pics. [emoji106]

Thanks for sharing the photos. We're up at Lake Powell all the time and just the other day were talking about doing that area, Big Water to Bull Frog but didn't have enough time and put it on the 'to do another time' list.
