Pinch seam

I haven't seen one here but you basically just cut that sharp corner off and spray a little paint on it.

I thought some of the member who purchased 2013's got lucky and noticed their pinch seam was already trimmed at the factory. Isn't yours a 2013? Anyway, prime first then paint.:thumb:

Thanks. I certainly sounds straight forward, just want to make sure I cover my bases.

Yeah, I remember reading the post but I think that may have been a Rubi...not sure if that matters. Mine is definitely not trimmed. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1361715100.239698.jpg

Well that blows! I do notice from factory they use spray foam in the cavity. I don't know if you might have to add more after you trim it. I'm sure others will chime in for tips.

Post some pics of your rig too!

It is straight forward. Just trim that corner and stay out of that bubble/high spot. I'd post a picture but my rails cover it.

Every time I want to check if my seams are trimmed I forget, every time I rember, I'm away from my jeep!

Posted this pic a little early in a similar thread this morning. But here is about how much I trimmed for 40"s. I used a reciprocating saw, then spray painted the foam sound proofing black after the trim was complete. You can sand the foam down too if your cuts tear it up.

Pinch Seam Trim

Here's one more pic for you. I did mine a couple of weeks ago to help clear 35's. I used a 5" grinder with a thin cut-off wheel. Easy:thumb: 2013-02-09 11.07.53.jpg

I read that post too, but I have a 2013 JKUR and the seams were not trimmed. Mine was delivered in December and I think the guy who posted that just got his in Feb; maybe they started doing that later, or 2 doors have it trimmed but not 4 doors? :idontknow:

I was surprised at how little I needed to trim for 37's though (Nitto TG's). While fully stuffed there was still an inch to spare in front of the rear tires. I just rounded the corner off. There is only about 1" diameter of the foamed area exposed.

My 2013 JKUR built in October and my 2013 JKU Sport built in December both have full pinch seams.

Noone has an issue with the rear most corner of the rear pinch seam? That is where my problem lies

It was mid year change. My early 2013 didn't have them trimmed but later 2013s did.

I had to trim both sides of my rear seems, only a little in the rear for my 37s. Once I went to 40s I cut mine very similar to GCM in front and took some more off the rear to round out the opening.

I had to cut front and rear for the 40", may still need to cut more as I still am getting into the SM and cutting the tire on the right side.
