Just got the news that my wife is planning a summer trip for us to Iceland..and of course, I'm thinking of two things...running the glacier in a Jeep, and fishing (I have a simple mind)...anybody been to Iceland, and if so...anybody run the glacier?

Post lots of pics! I assume you're renting a jeep there? I can't imagine the cost of trying to ship one there.

My eldest son went there a couple of years ago. He and his friend rented a SUV (RAV4 I believe) to tour the island. They were there in early spring and had a blast!

I went to Iceland four months ago but didn't off-road. It's illegal to go off the road unless it's truly marked as an off road trail so keep that in mind (it's because of the moss that grows there). By the way, everything there is super expensive...

Was there a few years ago. Common tire size is 46”+.

I've read of guys wheeling the glacier...when I get a chance I'm going to research a company that does it...I know Dave Harrington, owner of AEV, did it a couple years ago with two AEV jeeps on 37's...with a guide that knows where the ice chasms are (good to know)...

Checking out fishing for artic char and trout...

Sounds like a blast. As others have said, post pics! My personal goal is to get my Jeep over to Norway at some point and spend a month offroading/overlanding thru that country.

I've found a company out of Reykjavik called Artic Trucks Experience that can provide 4x4's to run the Langjökull glacier one day, then drive into the Arnarvatnsheidi upland to fish for wild artic char and monster brown trout...sleeping in rustic cabins with sleeping bags... looks like we are heading over late June

Gonna be over there mid-June myself with the soon-to-be wife for our honeymoon. I hadn't even thought about renting a 4x4 and doing the glacier

Still trying to nail down more things to do while we're there and man, does that company look BADASS; little bit out of out my price range though

Looking forward to any pictures that make it back

Lived in Iceland for 3 Years

I was stationed at Keflavik Iceland for 3 Years. Definitely do the Golden Circle tour and the Blue Lagoon. Then hit the ring road and head up to Glacier bay, absolutely amazing. Here are so pictures of us offloading in Iceland and other photos. I can get you in touch with Oskar, he is Icelandik and lives in Keflavik and runs a tourist business. He has the Bronco on 44's.
