Oil leak

Oil leak!
The leak on our 98 XJ has been getting consistently worse. Saturday the starter went out, during the repair I could see the oil was coming from the oil filter adapter. I replaced the 3 o rings, which I got from Mopar, and the leak is now worse. Also, after replacing the o rings, the oil pressure gauge didn't register any pressure. When I disconnected the sending until, it was full of oil and just feel apart. It's clear that oil has been coming out through the sending unit electrical connection, but not in the volume that is coming from the filter adapter. I've ordered a new adapter housing in case this one is cracked, and new sending until for oil pressure.
Looking for any advice or insights. Thank you.

Update: Took the adapter off. Pulled the male/male fitting out. Attached the filter directly to the block. Threw the adapter away. No more leaks. The other two XJs are going to have the same set up next.
