Caught the Bug
So I'm rebuilding a warn 8274 winch and am at the point where I have sand blasted the parts. My question to anyone who has done this or has experience, should I put any kind of coating on the internal gears and such to prevent rust? Should I not worry about it since it's going to be sealed up? The brake assembly is going to be exposed so is there anything I can coat it with? I've seen people powder coat the brake but doesn't seem like a good idea but not doing anything seems like I'd have rust on it frequently. I've also heard of sprayed zinc coating. I'm going to powder coat the drum and case housing but was curious to what people can do to prevent rust on the metal working parts aside from just putting a cover on it. Thanks guys
