NO LIFT & 37's on a JL WRANGLER - Can it be done?

Because the fenders on a Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon sit physically higher than a Sport or Sahara, I've had a lot of people asking me, "what's the biggest tire you can run without a lift"? Certainly, the wheel wells are quite large and even Jeep has stated that you could safely run 35's for around town driving but would it be possible to run a set of 37's or at least for a brief period of time? Being that Cindy and I had just finished installing a set of KMC XD231 Robby Gordon Beadlock Wheels onto our new 37x13.50 Cooper STT Pros, we decided to find out for ourselves and the following pics will show you what it looks like.

First up, here are a few shots of what our new KMC XD231 Robby Gordon Beadlock Wheels look like mounted on 37x13.50 Cooper STT Pros.

Hmmmm - sizing things up, it looks like it's gonna be a tight fit.

First one on and all I can say is WOW!

Here's a head on side-by-side size comparison of what stock 33" KO2 and a 37x13.50 STT Pro look like.

Oh yeah - all 4 wheels installed! Racked up like this, you can even get a sense of what JET Li will look like with a lift on.

Time to roll JET Li out of the stable and into the sun for some better shots.

I have to say, this low stance looks really mean.

So, what's the verdict you might ask? Well, what I can tell you is that with the right amount of back spacing, you can drive a JL Wrangler Rubicon with 37's and steer it without your tires making any contact with the frame or suspension components. However, the rear tire sit extremely close to an embossed feature on the fender liners and they'll rub on even the slightest of bumps. Needless to say, I would NOT recommend running 37's without at least some kind of lift and with bump stop extensions to match.

I hope you enjoyed see what a bone stock JL Wrangler Rubicon unlimited looks like with a set of 37's.

This one should be in the “Kill it with Fire” thread, with the mismatched spare. [emoji23]

Seriously, though, your JL is looking good! IMG_3905.jpg

Dam.... that looks good just like that! Is it just me or in the side view photo, does it look like the front of the Jeep is higher? I can’t believe how much clearance is around the front tire with no lift.... just a rear spacer would level it out? Looks bitchin.

Man, I am continuously surprised at how BIG these damn things are! Are the fenders trimmable? I looked at a JL at my local dealer the other day and was wondering based on them having a finished liner on the underside

Looks good! That spare got left out of the fun, need a shot of the spare 37 now just to make it happy. :cheesy:

LOL!! I don't think I could get it bolted up as is.

Man I love the LCG look of this

Looks Great! The low mean stance is awesome.

It really is the look that we like most :yup:

WOW!!!!!! That looks great! [emoji16] let’s see how well Jet Li can flex now

LOL!! Up front, maybe a bit but in the rear, no way that's gonna happen or at least, not without a LOT of rubbing.

Only bad thing is now every soccer mom will be on 37s!

:cheesy:

That thing looks bad ass. Thanks for cool photos.

Thanks :)

That looks awesome!! Can’t wait to see him lifted up!

Working on it and hope to have it done soon. :yup:

I really like the stance and those wheels definitely look good on white! Time for the lift.

The stance really is nice and the machined finish is awesome on a white JL. :yup:

The JL is totally level - the front fenders on a JL Rubicon just sit higher than the rear.

how much spacer did you use to get that 4.75" backspace to work?

Spacer? The wheels come with 4.75" of back spacing. I still need to finish installing the EVO 2.5" budget boost if that's what you're referring to.

The fenders ARE trimmable. You just need to remove the trim and liner and I think you could make this work.

Looking very nice :thumb: can't wait to see jet li with the lift in

Hope to have pics of this soon :)

Crazy, just crazy! When is the 2” lift going on?

Working on it now :)

Looks great. Can't wait to see the lift on. Also can't wait to see you push the axles to see how they hold up to 37's
