Next phase in my Jeeping life

Thought i would start a thread to document the build of my yet to be named TJ.

The jeep bug bit me five yeare ago and this is my fourth jeep and third wrangler.
My last wrangler was a 6 speed JKU i bought new in 2013 i had an absolute blast wheeling and wrenching on it! However i have always loved the TJs and decided to sell my four door and ended up buying a green 2001 3 speed auto with half doors.

My plan was to do a few key upgrades and wheel the little guy as hard as i can until i get the itch to do a stretch, upgrade axles, 40s and turn it into a trailer queen (Australia road laws aren't jeep friendly)

First upgrade was some decent rubber i have always wanted to try toyo MTs and ordered a set of 31/10.50/15.

Second was lockers of some sort knowing i would be upgrading the axles later i didn't want to spend much so i went for lunch box lockers. powertrax noslip in the rear dana 44 and an aussie in the front. Didn't take any photos of the install but check out the broken trac loc lsd clutch lol

So with decent tyres and all four of them spinning together i moved on to some armour. I wanted the bare minimum weighing down my jeep so i went for JCR sliders and poison spyder diff covers.

Afew maintenance items, fresh pads and rotors and rear drums fully rebuilt, every fluid and filter changed and fixed a leaky rear transfer case input seal.

Front bumper and winch installed i went with a JCR stubby and a warn xd9000 with synthetic rope. I planned on a zeon-10s but got a smoking deal on the xd9000 and its a warn so i have faith it will serve me just aswell as the previous owner.

I've also installed truck light headlights, JKS disconnects, spider wed shade, rear bumper removal and a 2 inch spacer in the front to level things out.

My impressions so far after three trail runs... i love this thing, its so much fun to wheel and I'm surprised just how capable it is with the short wheel base both lockers and an automatic it really is a blast on the trail.

I'll updated as things progress but in the mean time I'd love for other jeepers think so far ✌

Good looking rig and capable to boot. My club has 4 tj’s In it, from stock to long arm 37,s and that inline six is a torque monster that works very well👍👍👍.

Went to the wheeling with a mate this weekend and was reminded how important it is to check over your rig regularly.

He has a gq patrol with a holden 308 v8 conversion with an oil filter on the front of the motor, over time his steering stabilizer bracket had shifted position on the draglink enough to make contact at full bump causing him to lose most of his engine oil and be left stranded.

Luckily we were close to town and could make a trip to pick up a new filter and get him up and running again.

No pics of the damage but here's afew from the day.
