A week ago today, Cindy and I got an invitation from our good friend Mel Wade, owner of EVO Manufacturing and it was to come down to his place in Bullhead City, AZ, and do some wheeling. While this in and of itself would be nothing out of the ordinary, the specific reason for hooking up was. As some of you may know, he was in possession of Sandstorm, the awesome, Baja inspired Jeep concept build that was debuted at the 2018 Moab Easter Jeep Safari and he was charged with the task of doing some shock tuning. Needless to say, he didn't have to ask us twice and so we packed up our JL and made the long drive south. Here are a few pics from our recent trip.

Being that we would be driving through Vegas, we decided to use the opportunity to take Moby down to Motech for a few new upgrades. Here's a shot of both he and Jet taking a break out in the vast Nevada desert.

Having gotten a late start, we decided to make a stop at our home away from home to help break up the drive. CHEERS!

Saying goodbye to Moby and looking forward to him having a new and bigger radiator and Camaro fan installed.

Ah, sunsets in the scorching heat of the Arizona desert.

The following morning, we met up with Mel and his family out at their place.

And there it is - Sandstorm and parked right next to EVO 1. So much want!

Mel brought out a professional photographer to document the occasion and so we started the day off with a photo shoot. Here are a few shots that we got while Sandstorm was being posed.

After saying our goodbyes, Cindy and I made our way back to Vegas, to visit with family and along the way, we made a stop to explore an archaeological site known for its amazing petroglyphs and pictographs.

Heading into the canyon.

It may be a bit hard to see but there are petroglyphs everywhere here and most in places that would require a bit of light rock climbing to get to.

While petroglyphs are common, it's not everyday that you see pictographs, painted images as opposed to pecked in ones and this is to say nothing about them being in the same area. Here you can see a red squiggly line that was painted on a rock.

It's a bit tough to see but the rock face in this tight space has a series of red circles that have been painted on to it. Some are solid and some are open.

The canyon ends at what was once a pretty impressive waterfall.

Before heading home, Cindy and I decided to visit a piece of Roadside America that we've been meaning to checkout for a while now.
20180613194418-3769dd9c-me.jpg

Back in the 1920s, a 70,000 gallon water tank was located here to help provide water for thirsty steam engines climbing the grade. After being replaced by diesel engines, the water tank was still used to cool off and provide water to hogs being transported to Southern California. This went on well into the early 90's and more recently, the tank had been converted into an artistic political piece made to look like a PBR or Pabst Blue Ribbon beer can.

20180613194158-f5aa535b-me.jpg

The bottom of the can reads "Aware! Drinking tin flavored piss-water is as American as small-pox covered blankets, shooting unarmed black men, diplomacy by drone, date raping sorority girls with impunity, or over consumption of every thing always."

For a long time, this old railroad siding was a town complete with a post office, gas station and even a 1 room school house. Today, only the foundations of them remain.

Always fun to do a little dumpster diving to see what you can find.
20180613194253-1e81165a-me.jpg

As luck would have it, we would get to see 3 awesome B2 Bombers flying overhead as well.
20180613194639-bc698ec6-me.jpg

In spite of the clear skies, we still managed to get caught in a shower of bugs.
20180613194643-2e67a048-me.jpg

And finally, thanks to some kids burning their poop, this is what we got to come home to. Fortunately, the fire was moving away from us and we were safe.

Sounds like an awesome trip.

Thanks, and I will be looking forward to seeing the video.

It is a shame that asshats have shot up some of the pictographs. Too bad so many were raised with no discipline and no respect.

It's the biggest reason why I try as hard as I can NOT to say where any of these places are anymore.

Video is up now :)

Glad you liked following our trip pics :)

Sandstorm looks like a lot of fun! Really cool pics[emoji106] The fire really sucks... hope nobody is affected

The fire was just plain stupid. Started by campers trying to burn their shit... literally :rolleyes2:

Sandstorm was badass for sure.

Sounds like an awesome time! Wish I got to see sandstorm while I was at ejs

Oh yeah, always a good time when you're out wheeling with good friends - this in spite of the fact that it was 110 out :icon_crazy:

That is one awesome Jeep! What a great experience to see it open up. Did I miss the picture of Jet taking flight off that bump?

LOL!! Jet was nervous just watching the big boys play.

Very cool pics and I love me some sandstorm!! Thanks

Glad you liked them and yes, Sandstorm is a lot to love. :yup:

Great pictures Eddie and Cindy. I was wondering if Moby was being kicked to the curb. If you need someone to drive him I’ll volunteer [emoji51]
