Over heating

Hi all! The temperature climbs to 3/4 than drops back to normal. The radiator cap just when this happens initial is cold on a 80 degree day. Fan is running excessively no matter where the gage is.
Any thoughts? Thanks for helping

On the highway , flat over no excessive load. If I try to reach above 55, the gage climbs than I drop back to 45 to 50 and the gage returns to normal

Sounds like you could have an air in your cooling system or a bad t-stat.

Hey guys. Been a while since I've been on and replied to anything. I was curious as to what temp is too high to be running at? When driving up hills while traveling, my trial dash beeps at me and flashes red at 230 degrees. I wouldn't think that was too hot though. It's gotten up to 240 at most. Is this normal? I heard jks run hot. When do they go into limp? Also, is there anything I can do to make it run cooler that you guys might recommend?
