I have a question for all you guru's. I have a 2010 JKU, at about a 120,000 miles my ignition coil went out. I got a P0301 fail and rough idle. I had already swapped the spark plugs and wires. So, I swapped out the ignition coil with one from O'Reilly Auto parts. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...7566/2010/jeep/wrangler?q=ignition+coil&pos=3. After about three months I get another fault code pulled off the ignition coil pack and the epoxy on the back side was cracked. So, I went to O'Reilly's and replaced it and everything was fine. Well, I drove from Montana to Washington D.C this past week and when I got into Pennsylvania I get another code P0303, so I pull off the coil pack and the epoxy on the back side is all cracked. Luckily I was near a O'Reilly's in Penn. I swapped it out for a replacement since it was under warranty. After I installed it the Jeep ran fine again. Then when I drove back to Montana and got into Helena, my Jeep spits out another P0304 fault code. I pulled the coil pack off and the epoxy was cracked again. So, I swapped it out with another one from O'Reilly's. It is pretty annoying. I have swapped out this coil pack 3 times granted the coil pack was like 57 dollars.

My Question is this, is the Screaming Demon worth the money and upgrade https://www.quadratec.com/products/17610_610X_PG.htm. Oh, by the way on the last two times the ignition coil pack went bad the outside temps where 110+ degrees.

I've been running the Screamin' Demon coil pack and LiveWire setup for a few months and it's been doing great for me.

I appreciate the response. It has been a pain in the you know what. The factory one lasted 7 Years, 120K. I figured I was either going to get the Mopar one next or the Screaming Demon. I figured why not just upgrade it.

Quick update

So, my screamin demon ignition coil and live wires came in. I removed the current ignition coil on my Jeep. It was just replaced 3 weeks ago for the forth time. Here is the difference in build quality and how cheap the Orielly’s brand is. You can see where it keeps cracking. I also did new spark plugs and gapped them to .065. Man the difference in driving is definitely noticeable.

Caught the Bug
I got the P0304 code this weekend . Was going to start by replacing all plugs since my 2015 is at 62k miles . Anything else I should definitely do while I’m in there?

I just replaced my factory plugs at 145k miles due to it idling rough then set a p0305. Went back with factory plugs from rockauto. All is good now.

I've heard these Pentastar V6's do not play well with non-stock type plugs, especially "performance" plugs. I've always stuck with factory because of that. :twocents:

Not to bad mouth the Screamin Demon stuff, but keep in mind the original equipment components were designed to operate under certain perimeters, that being specific resistance. Only by buying stock parts can you guarantee that resistance is met, being spark plugs, plug wires, or coil. Stay with stock on these parts for reliability sake if possible.

I replaced the stock coil on my 2010 JK with Scream'n Demon coil and live wires after 6 months and never looked back.

Using stock plugs with a wider gap as recommended in the instructions have worked out great and eeked out a little bit more mileage and smoother performance.

The JK now has about 180K miles on it :thumb:

I check #1 and #4 plugs once a year to see how they're wearing as part of my yearly maintenance.
