Homemade JL Rock Sliders

I just wrapped up making rock sliders for our new JL. I like my EVO sliders on my JKU and I like how the LOD’s bolt on so I made a set that look just like my EVOs and they bolt on. For $100 worth of metal, I’m pretty happy with the end results.

There’s 3 supports, it’s hard to see in the pic. They use the threaded holes in the bottom of the frame and the two body mounts in the rear. Up front they bolt to the underside of the frame and a through hole in the frame. On the passenger side I had to drill a through hole in the frame. They mount pretty much just like the LODs do. They feel super strong, but we’ll see once we get them out. I’ll have the lift, wheels and tires on this week and hopefully be hitting the trails this weekend.

Those look good. Nice work.

I like the pic of the two Jeeps in the driveway.
With the distance between them and the perspective from the camera, it makes the JK look like a monster and the JL look like a cute little toy.

Not sure how I overlooked this thread when I built mine, @JKJason did a great job.

I built mine about a year and a half ago from 1.75” 0.120 wall DOM tubing and the primary tube that runs under the tub is 2” square 0.250 wall. I sheeted the bottom with 10ga steel and gussets the corners with 10ga.

I have beat them pretty good and there’s no cracks or bends yet. Only real damage is some deep gouges in the tubing, and the bottom sheet is a little warped.

CalSgt I was asking how well JKJasons held up and what he used for material. I made mine a few years ago our of 2x6x.25wall but I think they stick out too far for my next trip to the Rubicon Trail. I got a bunch of 2x2x.25wall and was going to remake them just for the trip because my wife likes the step. also if I had to repowded coat them is way more than just making a new set and rattle can them.
I drilled and tapped the frame so I can change them out pretty easy. The Farm Jack can lift the jeep using the steps
