Astatic 636L mics are good. Noise cancelling to keep background noise out of radio transmission. They are repairable. Usually the plug end needs to be rewired from all the pulling and twisting, bouncing down the trail. I've had one switch replaced. Been using them for 10 years.

I used to prefer Road King 56, but their quality suffered so no more RK56 for me.

I have had good luck with Astatic and Barjan mics in my work truck. The Barjan power mic is really nice and has an adjustable gain on the mic itself. Both come through really clear and without the scratchy keyup that a lot of Cobra mics get.

Yeah my astatic mic was a power mic with a gain control knob and it worked really good for me.
