Quadratec Pisses Me Off

My son has been very particular about what he wants for a rear bumper. Oddly, Quadratec recently released a mid-width rear bumper that was pretty much exactly what he wanted and at a price point that was acceptable to us to get it for him as a birthday present.

We ordered the bumper at the beginning of May knowing that it was "backordered by the manufacturer" until May 22nd. No biggie, it would arrive a few weeks after his birthday but still in time for summer. Well, about every two weeks that backorder date changes again and now QTec is claiming that it will ship July 22nd.

Fortunately, we haven't been charged yet. I have contacted Qtec several times by phone, twice by email, and a few times via their online chat service. So far, nobody can provide me with any real information. All I get is "the bumper is backordered but it is still being made and sold." Honestly, it is their effing bumper! One would think they would be able to check the computer and say whether the bumpers are really in production and will be shipped soon...or whether they aren't even making them until they get enough orders...or something!

There is no effing way it takes 3 months to make and ship a bumper, even from China. I know I am cynical but I can't help but think that the gov't trade fighting impacted QTec's margin on the product so they are waiting to have the bumpers made and shipped. (I admit though that I have no idea whether the bumper is really being made in China).

I just wanted to give everyone the head's up that QTec's "in-house" products may not even exist and, at least with respect to their new mid-width bumper, the back order / expected shipping dates are complete bullshit!!!

Sorry for the rant.

I went thru something similar with their version of the bestop NX top which I think was from Rampage. Got it fine, but then they wouldn’t stand behind it when the zippers failed. Most, if not all of “their” products are just rebranded items from other suppliers.

I’ve bought some stuff from them, but never their actual products. Thanks for the heads up though, Sharkey. Sorry about y’all’s bad luck.

Most likely they are waiting for a more cost effective shipping load...perhaps you need to call EVO or GenRight...

Best way to get repeat customers is Honesty. If they were up front and told you the truth... yeah, you might shop somewhere else this time... but in the back of your head, you would respect their honesty and that in itself would bring you back. But instead, next time you are looking for something, you’ll think, fuck those liars.

Thats why I love dealing with Bubba at Exodus... always straight forward and honest.

Probably waiting til they reach the quantity threshold of orders in hand needed for the manufacturer to make the run

Sorry for your troubles with QT. I ordered two of their LED cubes and had the same delivery issues. “Back Ordered” for them means not currently in production, I believe. Took over four months to get two lights. No longer a favorite of mine.

I've bought a bunch of small stuff from them but never any large ticket items. It;s always a rad hose or a hinge trim cover, shit like that. For larger stuff I like being able to talk to someone if need be so I now buy as much as i can from Bubba.

Believe me, if we were going the route of a high end bumper I would have called Bubba, or EVO directly. This is a unique circumstance in that Quadratec makes the bumper. If I could get it somewhere else I would.

A truly unfortunate situation. They have been my primary supplier, in general, and always provided me exceptional customer service. I can only hope they realize this situation and address it.

Sucks to hear sharkey. I live right down the road from their main location here in west chester and it is Deff not made in house. The location is an office and a warehouse for shipping. I’m curious as to who is making “their bumper” for them.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I tried ordering a catalytic converter from them. Couldn’t get the order to go through, so I called them. They said they couldn’t ship the converter to Komifornia, ironically it was a Magnaflow Ca carb certified converter. I don’t think anybody not in the socialist republic of Komifornia would pay the extra money for a CA CARB converter!

This is definitely super frustrating and I feel for you. However, my company manufacturers some equipment in China and it is definitely not out of the realm of possibility that Quadratec is having issues as well. We are now waiting 3-4 months after an order is placed to receive it at our facility. Once we place an order it takes them a couple weeks to source parts, then at least a month to manufacture. When you are talking a product like a new bumper, the facility was probably late on the tooling anyway and then had to wait for a production slot to open up. After the full order is complete it goes to port where it is sent on a 3-4 week journey on the sea. Once it arrives in the US, customs is taking longer because naturally they are taking more time inspecting containers. We had one order take 5 months to deliver!! Awful for the manufacturer and customer. If they are telling you it ships on July 22nd, that probably means that the ship arrived in the US this week and the order is leaving Quadratec's facility on the 22nd. Hope your son gets his bday present soon and it is worth the wait!

We finally received the bumper yesterday and, of course, QTec didn't do a good job of packing it. One of the Dring tabs pretty much bounced off the pavement and chipped all of the powdercoat off (which speaks volumes about the quality of the powdercoat).

It pisses me off but I'm not about to pay to ship the thing back. I've sent Qtec an email asking for a credit or discount. I'll report back as to whether they give a shit.

My son loves the bumper. The quality and finish are consistent with, or above, the price point. It’s not EVO or PS quality, but it’s a lot nicer than shittybilt and the likes that are out there.

QTec gave me a small but reasonable credit for the shipping damage to the dring tab, so that was nice. All in all, we are happy but it would have been nice for QTec to give better information about expected shipping time.
