Stashing a truck and trailer near the Rubicon

Hey folks, hitting the Rubicon in about a month and one of the guys in our group might be towing his rig. Any place you guys recommend for standing a truck and trailer while on the trail for a couple days? May also try and leave our doors and his top with the truck and trailer if it’s a secure enough place.

Talked to a guy in SLT that got his tow rig, trailer, and Jeep stolen parked behind the Hard Rock Casino for 1 night .. so not there .

I’d stay in South Tahoe, lock my doors in the hotel, and properly lock my trailer and axles to prevent theft.

The hotel is for the doors and parking lot. Not to sleep in.

Yeah I figured that. I’d have to assume they’d likely charge me for a room to leave our doors in for a few days regardless. Can’t justify paying for my doors to sleep better than us, or at least not full pop for a room we won’t stay in anyway.

I'll never understand why people build Jeeps that they aren't willing to drive.

That being said, it'll add a bit of time to your trip but you can park the truck at the staging area on the Tahoe side of the trail. Then you can make the drive down to Loon from there. That way, the truck will be there for you when you get off the trail.

Makes two of us Eddie. I’m not totally sure he’s going to but wanted to try and find a solution just in case. I appreciate the tip and I’ll be sure to give him some grief [emoji12]

^ This. But, you still have to figure out the doors and roof if you decide to drop those.

I believe this is the storage unit in Truckee that we have used in the past. https://www.truckeeselfstorage.com. $200 for a month. Cheaper than a hotel for 3 nights. Similar to leaving the trailer at the staging area, you drop it all here and then have about a 2 hour drive to Loon Lake. When you finish, it’s only about a 30 minute drive to the storage unit.
