Great tent camping spot near Mammoth Lakes?

I'm heading up to Mammoth Lakes for a long weekend and having never camped there before, I'm not sure where to go? I was going to head toward Funnel lake but my wife wants to stay in Mammoth or June Lake. Not wanting to stay in a campground and I can't find much online, so I'm hoping for suggestions. Thanks.

Edit - Never mind. I believe it's against the rules to disclose trail locations (which is completely understandable). The whole place is beautiful so I'm sure I'll find a great spot!

I was just up there and camped for a few days... tons of USFS land along west side of US 395 between June Lake and Mammoth
