JL front skid plate.

Caught the Bug
On a much earlier thread...which I cannot find, there was a discussion about front skid plates. I said I was having one made by local machine shop and would post when complete. After putting it on, I am concerned if bottom of plate takes weight of vehicle or big hit, it may shear bolts. TBD. I used 12.9 M-10 bolts with red Loctite. I will obviously be testing before end of month, and we'll see how bolts hold up. 3/16" steel is the plate.

It may just be me, but it looks to be much lower than it needs to be.

Any reason for that?

If it had the support of the frame horns on the bottom, the two bolts would not need to hold the load alone.

I wanted to make sure it completely protected sway bar motor. To your support comment, I agree. I am thinking of putting some hard rubber bump blocks in between plate and frame. It's R&D, you know. I'm not a manufacturer.
