BETTER STRONGER FASTER : Making Moby Great Again - MOTECH 6.2L L86 w/10-Speed

As some of you may know, Moby had some issues on the 2019 JK-Experience and specifically, in regards to the wiring on his 6.2L engine. This left us hobbling along in limp mode for the better part of 2 days and even after we were able to get him running again, things still weren't perfect. Needless to say, we had always planned on making a trip down to Motech and with the hopes of them tracking down the problem but as Cindy and I would soon find, Robbie had other ideas in mind. As I recall, he said that we can rebuild him. [QUE IN THE 6 MILLION DOLLAR MAN THEM SONG] We have the technology. We can make him better, than he was. Better, stronger, faster. And, before you know it, he had us convinced to do yet another heart transplant and this time, with an awesome 6.2L L86 coupled with a kickass 10-speed automatic transmission!

Needless to say, this thread has been started to highlight the transformation. We hope you enjoy.

OUT with the OLD
For those of you who've been following our WAYALIFE on the GO thread, you've probably seen a few of these initial photos. They're essentially what Robbie sent us soon after we dropped Moby off at Motech.

Hell of a lot of work just to track down a short in the wiring LOL

eh... on second thought, maybe we should start all over from scratch. :yup:

Taking a moment to appreciate a view of the EVO Lever system that we rarely get to see.

Guess it was a bit hot under the hood and enough so that the ARB compressor plug started to melt a bit.

Out with the old...

According to Robbie, Moby's old L94 didn't look to shabby for having almost 100k miles on it.

Our Atlas 2-speed was a bit of a different story and will need a rebuild.

IN with the NEW
So, here's a first look at the engine that Motect will be installing in Moby. Essentially, it's an LT 6.2L L86 that came out of a 2017 Escalade.

From what I'm told, what makes it different is the over 11 to 1 compression that it has.

Shot of the low pressure in from the fuel tank.

And, that goes into the high pressure pump which steps up the fuel pressure from about 60 psi to over 2,000 psi!

The high pressure fuel goes into the rails shown and is directly injected into the chamber. Notice that there are no injectors in the intake.

Last but not least or at least for now, Robbie is going to install an LT1 intake so that it'll look clean and sharp like this.

Hoping to post more updates soon.

Woohoo! Can’t wait to see how the new power plant performs in Moby!

The gm strike really killed my dealer and still is hitting us hard months afterwords so I can only imagine what they are going thru.

Eddies probably wondering how the hell someone managed to find this lol. Can’t wait to see the end result. Hopefully it eliminates all the bs that was being dealt with at jkx.

Awesome upgrade. Any idea how many miles are on the engine? I think that engine cover needs a Jeep or Wayalife decal on it.
