Manual 1994 Jeep xj HO 5th gear slows down

So I have a 4.5 lift kit in this running 33Ē x 12.5s. Recently I noticed I start to slow down once I put it in 5th and it takes about 5 minutes for the needle to climb up and get up to speed. Someone told me itís the clutch and that I need to replace itAdjustments.jpg but Iíd like to hear from the experts. Thank you

If the clutch is on its way out the rpms would climb without the car accelerating as fast(clutch slipping), if you are saying that once the jeeps in fifth it takes a while for the speed the match the rpms then I would say itís the clutch is slipping

I havenít seen the rpms act up in that matter, as a matter of fact Iíve noticed climbing a hill on the road has gotten harder.

5th gear isnít for accelerating anymore when you have big boy tires, mainly coasting downhill... with a tail wind..drafting a semi.
If this is a new development with no tire /wheel changes than you have something holding it back. Tune up, clogged cat, brake drag etc. As long as your rpms arenít increasing without speed increasing it is most definitely not your clutch.

About us
ďwayoflifeĒ is a moniker that Iíve been using for 20 years now and I chose it because I think it does a great job of explaining, in simple terms, the passion I have for Jeeps and the Jeep way of life. This is a lifestyle that transcends age, gender and race as the only thing you need to be a part of it is a love for the outdoors, a desire to explore, a yearning to take on a challenge and a will to conquer it. Over the years, Cindy and I have attempted to capture the essence of this lifestyle through photographs and videos and share it with others around the world. And, this is how WAYALIFE was born.
