Rusty’s vs EVO hinged tire carrier

Ok I would like to hear from you guys mostly on Rusty’s carrier. My plan down the road is to go up to 40’s on a JL. EVO advertises their carrier to hold up to 37 tire and rusty’s one goes up to 40 inches.
So I guess my question is it safe and practical to have such a big tire on hinged carrier. I prefer to get carrier just one time and not to upgrade down the road.
Thanks.

I’ll be honest and tell you that we’ve installed a few EVO carriers on JL’s and I’m not a fan. The carrier itself is solid but the camera relocation is terrible. There’s better options available.

Maybe EVO will have their hinged carrier/skins/weld-on sliders ready soon for the Jeep that's been on the market already going on 3 years. :rolleyes2:

Hey buddy, I just bought a VERY nice tubing bender with plans for weld on JL and JT sliders, amongst other things for the JT nobody is building.

I run several of Rusty’s parts on my Jeep. But I went with the Evo, it has a little more meat to it. A couple guys I wheel with are running the Rustys carrier. They are well pleased with it. We all have 37s.

I plan to get the Rusty's tire carrier. I like and have some EVO products however I think more love and thought was put into the Rustys one.

Just finished the Rusty's carrier install last night. I'n really happy with it. This is a very well made carrier. The fit is great and the PC finish is top notch. We'll see how that finish holds up over time but of all the shot I've bought for my Jeeps, this is the best PC job I've seen from an aftermarket company. Instructions were pretty good too.
I've not seen an EVO carrier in person but honestly can't believe that it's nicer than this one. I'd highly recommend this to anyone considering a body mounted carrier for their Jeep.
