Looking around at tie rod clamps for hydro assist. If my tie rod is 1.5 inches but the clamp is 1.625, would there be too much play to make it slide? do I need to find a clamp that is specifically 1.5?

Since Greer seconded himself, I'll 3rd it. [emoji23]

If you're going with a clamp, make sure it's the right size and has at least 3 bolts on each side.

I highly recommend the Carolina Metal Masters clamp. I've had no issues with mine. I've seen PSC's clamp slip on more than one occasion.

For those interested. Spoke to Justin at WTO and they recommend this clamp now. Much more affordable and fits 1.5 od tie rods. Screenshot_20200110-112248_Chrome.jpg

The two piece clamps work fine if you have the correct size. Just take a punch and hammer and add some dimples where the clamp mates to the tie rod, creating a sort of knurling, which keeps it from slipping.
