Slave cylinder question

Do I need the black plastic tip on the slave cylinder for my clutch to be fully disengaged?
When I was installing the new one the tip fell in the bell housing

Yes, that piece first the cup in the release fork and keeps the rod aligned properly. Maybe you can get the tip off of the one that is being replaced?

Got the new one installed with the tip back on!
Gonna move to the master clutch cylinder. Thanks!
