Hard Rock Slider Trim

Just thought I would post up in case anyone was wondering about the lack of clearance on the factory Hard Rock sliders, you can increase it almost 2 inches by trimming back to the weld for the tube. The sliders actually seem well built, so I figured I could save a few bucks keeping them for now. I made sure to get this done before I went up from the 315/70's to 37s. I know the axle moves back in an arc and would have probably cleared the 37s, but more clearance is good right?

I also see that Jeep started trimming the pinch seam at the factory sometime between my last ('11) and current ('15) JK, too bad they left these sliders so long...

A little masking tape for a straight line, angle grinder with a cutoff wheel, some flat black spray paint & a few dabs of RTV to hold the end caps in and we are good to go!

Hooked
I ditched mine after a couple decent hits pushed them into the body. Now that I welded on the Evo’s I don’t hesitate to put the weight of the Jeep on them. Just as a note for you, it was hard to see the damage to the body until the factory slider was removed.
