Too Sunny to Work

On Tuesday the weather report said that it was going to be a brilliant day for us in the Seattle area. Having heard that I ask the boss if I could take Wednesday off for no other reason that it was going to be too sunny to work. After thinking about it for a bit, he said "Sure", then he gave me the rest of the week off too. He's a rides a BMW R 1200 GS Adventure and we often discuss going to the same places and taking the same trails, so he fully gets taking the day off on the account of good weather. As soon as I got home from work, the top and doors came off. :clap2:



Wednesday morning my wife and I load up a few supplies, our dog Emma, and a camera, and head out.

Our first stop was the Preston Mill. A saw mill that has been out of service for some time but still has a couple buildings still standing and some pieces laying around on the ground.

Emma enjoying the shade for a bit. (wow, she does occasionally stop playing!)


Next up, into the Mt Baker Snoqualmie National Forest.

Totally enjoyable day!

And, well, it's sunny again, so off we go again. Will post up more pics of nf-9020, nf-9021, nf-110, and Tinkham Road later

After leaving Preston, we headed out I-90 to Exit 38, crossed over the South Fork Snoqualmie river. We happened upon a little dam.


Further up the road we came across a dirt road with no gate (somewhat rare in this area). We just had to take it. Turns out to be NF-9020. We took some time to play around under the power lines.




And off again up NF-9020. Then Left on NF-9021.


Higher in Elevation we go.


We found a road not on the GPS, and with no gate, we followed it. A little research when we got home shows it was NF-110



If you've ever traveled along I-90 west of Snoqualmie Pass and saw all those roads crisscrossing the mountian side, that is where we were and this is what you will find.




Jack says nope, snow with off-camber towards a cliff is not too cool.

Emma's ok with it tho.

Finally towards the end of the day and the temp dropping down to 60 degrees, we decided just one last side trip before heading back home for the evening.
This time up Tinkham Road. We followed Tinkham Rd (nf-55) to NF-5510 and headed up for a bit to get some pics of the Iron Horse trail bridge. It used to be a railroad, now it serves as a hiking/biking trail.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun!
We just recently became empty nesters and filled the nest with a dog.
Emma as of this post is 12 weeks and is a border collie, we've had her for about a month. Dang smart dog! I'm glad she doesn't have opposable thumbs or we'd be in trouble.

Great pics and nice Jeep. I'm up in the Bellingham area so maybe a weekend trip to hit Naches sometime.

Naches is definitely on the list for this summer. Possibly Manashtash as well
