2 questions: ESC coming on on the highway and fluid leak in left wheel well.

So twice now at highway speeds my ESC has kicked in while I've been going over changes in elevation in the road causing it to "motorboat" and the suspension to oscillate up and down. It hasn't caused me to be rear-ended yet but it drops the speed so quickly and without any brake lights to signal any close following vehicles that that's a danger. Has anyone else experienced this?

Secondly, I have just noticed that I have a fluid leak of some sort in the left front wheel well. I know of the line rubbing issue there but honestly can't tell if that's the issue. I took a couple pics with my iPhone:

Going to get it in to the dealership this week but any ideas in the meantime?

Also it rained today which is why everything is so dirty. LOL

Thanks in advance.

Left front wheel? What year is your JK? If 2012+ you may have the tranny rubbing/leak issue. There is a recall on it now. Bring it in ASAP.

check your tubing and confirm the fluid - if it is trans fluid, it can ignite - clean it up and try to seal it up or replace the tubing until you get to the dealer.

The fluid could be coming from your front diff breather tube. Have you added any fluid lately?

X2. Mine came overfilled from the factory. They'll drain some and you'll be good to go.

As for the...ahem..."motorboating" I am not sure what could be causing that.

Any more details?

Wish it was that kind of motor boating!

Haven't added any fluid lately. And there does not appear to be any damage vis a vis the transmission/A/C lines rubbing so perhaps it is some overflow from the dif. I've had the JKUR for about 6 months, though and this is the first time I've seen it.

that's good - so now to determine what triggered the ESC - follow the areas where the liquid has covered and see if any of the sensors are affected - you may have a sensor with oil on it or gunk built up from the trail triggering the ESC, also if you were on the trail your steering may have been knocked off center - check that your steering wheel is centered and wheels straight.

Well, after a more thorough inspection, it does, in fact, appear to be differential fluid overflow. I'm not sure why all of a sudden. Going to keep my eye closely on it the next few days and see if it re-accumulates.

Thanks again.
