I recently sold my 04 WJ. Had it for 5 years. Originally bought it for my daughter to drive, she left for college and wanted something smaller and with better mileage. I kept it for another year and a half and decided to let it go. It was the 4.0, only thing I had to do the whole time was service it and replaced the battery once. Great dependable Jeep. I say buy it, build it and enjoy for years to come. Look forward to seeing what you do with it.

I am digging that one. We are going to look at a few out of town this weekend. I guess I'm picky. I did find one and the Carfax showed it too be well maintained. I know I'll have to put some work into it.

Should be sweet, I'll be checking it out as you build.

Man, I am really looking forward to one of these WJ's. Not much aftermarket support. A lot of cool stuff out there you really got to Google for some shit. Just got to find one. I will probably start a build on this for sure.

I know nothing about WJs other than my friends mom had one when I was in jr high and she used to smoke with the windows closed while taking us to school in the morning...thought I was going to fucking die! Good luck!

I loved my WJ. If you’re not going to do any crazy trails I’d go for a V8 quadradrive with a 3” lift and rubi takeoffs and just have fun.

This is a logical and sustainable approach.

Totally. I am now considering a V-8, looking at 4" short arm, Rubi take off's like my rig either 255 or 33's, trying to get some Overlander rails as well.

Even at 4 inches, go long arm if you can. I really wish that I had. These wj unibodys just don't offer a lot of comfort on a 4 inch short arm. The other sucky issue at 4 inches us how steep the drag link is.

I do keep reading how it is a better ride. It's seems that IRO's can be installed without removing the stock front arm brackets. I can lose them later. The 4" Zone appealed to me due to the TC drop so you might not need a driveshaft.

I started with the zone 4 inch kit. I've replaced nearly every part of it since. It's a budget kit but shitty quality. Honestly if you want to do this right, spend the money for a 4+ long arm kit, or if you're going to stick with short arms, keep the height around 3 inches and piece it together with quality parts.

I second the long arms if you are going 4” or more.

I know my WJ is a whole different animal, but with long arm 3 link front and 4 link rear and 8” IRO springs it rides as good, maybe even better than it did stock.

Haven't heard about Rusty's, but longarmwj said that Iron Rock sucks major ass and he's had a bunch of issues with their suspension shit. I've heard Amazing things about Clayton's kit. If I knew what I knew now, I would go with a Clayton Off-road kit right off the bat. It comes with Johnny joints as well. It's about 3k though and requires welding. Clayton is the company that supplied Dynatrac with the brackets when I swapped my axle. They have a lot of WJ stuff.

I'm running the Clayton 8" on my XJ. I shopped and studied for a long time and after doing the research and talking with the guys at Clayton I pulled the trigger.

From the product to the customer service there is no better option for a unibody lift in my opinion. It's worth the money up front to prevent failure on the trail. You get what you pay for and in Clayton's case their stuff is excellent quality and well designed.

Just call and talk to them and you will see what I mean. Buy it once and be done. No upgrades needed.
