Lots of research, should be fun. Thank you for checking in. It’s going to be slow going but I’ll post as many progress pics as I can. I’ll download a few outside shots. Amazingly the windows rolled up and all glass including the windsheild’s Are crack free:thumb:

The name Iron Horse is a good one, however... Yosemite Sam stuck for a few reasons:thumb:

I found online a truck with the next serial number. It has an established history from the same order number. Apparently it was built as an Army weapons carrier/troop carrier. One had bench seats on each side one full length and one shorter to accommodate the in bed spare mount at the cab end of the bed. These two configurations were shipped with the removable bench’s. And used as a 3/4 ton truck for multiple tasks but were the only two that put the spare in the bed. I am continuing to research where it was deployed and see if any pictures exist. My father served in Korea and my aunt thinks she has a picture of him in a M37. Stay tuned:thumb:

As you can see, the floor boards are in great shape thanks to Sam:rock:

That’s some great history! Were there any benches in the back of yours?

There were no benches, but there are slide brackets and lockdown holes with evidence there were at one time. Both WC and TC had these along with bows and canvas over the bed that tied into steak sides.

M37 project ends for RockingK

It is with much sadness and excitement that I see Sam find a new home. About a year ago Sam came to me without warning and plans were soon set in motion. Then came Trigger (1974 Bronco). Sam was put on the back burner and Trigger got all the attention and still needs a lot more. I needed to move Trigger to the heated shop and Sam to the barn. My neighbor and great friend came over to help me and before I knew it, we had it running and driving....driving out my driveway and up his. Long story short, he always wanted it and he knew I had my eye on a 1955 Willys Pickup but also knew I had a storage problem with multiple projects. I have been talking to a gentleman that restored “Velma” named after its original owner. After many years and more money than I would have ever spent on a truck, he decided to move on to other projects. Soon after Sam made the drive from my shop to Kraigs house/tent. I made the call to Ron (Velma’s owner/restorer) and bought that old girl. Plans to pick up Velma are next week, stay tuned!

Coming soon to a forum near you.... “Velma” 1955 three owner pickup. I have always been a “build not bought” guy! I have a soft spot for old iron, mostly 4x4’s, specifically “Jeeps/Willy’s” of witch I’ve had a few. Velma knocked on my door a while back, but time and space were limited and the price was quite a bit higher. Apparently the stars and the moons were aligned and Ron and I came to an agreement that served us both well. Here are a few picks.

Sad to see Sam go! But I’m happy to see you are getting that sweet Willy’s pickup!

Update: drove five hours to pick up the Willy’s. After a complete once over, found it to be not as represented and could not reach a number that would work for me. I hate walking away empty handed but it lead me back to Sam and it will be back shortly. My neighbor knew I regretted selling it to him and he was taking on a huge rock crawler build so all is well. :thumb:

Looks great in the pics. What was wrong with it?
