And the Thanksgiving holiday runs from 5 PM on Wednesday until 5 PM Sunday but by then it will be dark and I can't travel at night

One of the few good things in Cali is the 24/7 oversized permits.
Except for LA curfew and holiday curfew. Even then you are good to 10' wide.
